DOWN EAST YACHT CLUB
MEDICAL TRAINING PROGRAM
The Officers of the Bridge and the Board of Directors understand the need for all of our
members to be capable of recognizing and dealing with medical emergencies while we
are pursuing our favorite pastime—spending time on the water.
The Down East Yacht Club is offering a three hour Medical Training Program to our
members. This course, taught by a Medical Training Professional, does not result in
any certifications, but does provide the knowledge necessary to deal with the Medical
Emergencies we might encounter.
The training will focus on the following topics:
Recognizing cardiac emergencies and Compression CPR
Recognizing neurological emergencies, basic stroke care, seizures, and injuries
to the head neck and spine
Respiratory emergencies and chocking
Shock, bleeding, heat stroke, and hypothermia, as well as standard precautions
and legal considerations
This course is available to all members of the Down East Yacht Club. The cost per
attendee is $15.00. The first sessions are Friday July 28, 2017 at 1:00 to 4:00 and
6:00 to 9:00 in the Common Room of the Cod Cove Inn, 22 Cross Road, Edgecomb,
